Old Manali: 6 Reasons Why You Will Fall In Love With This Place

Old Manali may have the prefix “old”, but it is way more awesome as compared to the main Manali town. While latter is one of the busiest summer destinations in India, the former is a breath of fresh air! Geographically, the only thing that separates Old Manali and Manali is the Beas River but there is a complete change of scene after you cross the river. This picturesque place is a part of the banana pancake trail that runs through South East Asia, and so are the nearby Kasol and Dharamkot. Here are a few things that you will love about the place:

1. The popular market

There are several shops on the sides of the alley once you enter Old Manali. There is no dearth of coffee-shops and food joints. Woollens and summer clothes with boho vibes are stuffed in almost every shop and there are shops dedicated to punk t-shirts for both men and women right there in the centre of the place. Accessory shops display a wide range of leather bags, decorated belts, chunky jewellery and chillums of different styles. There are also travel agencies for trekking and general travel, medical stores, tattoo and beauty parlours and massage centres out there.

2. Activities

Almost every place you stay at has the list of activities you can choose from. You can go trekking for a day, or longer, fishing, hiking, sightseeing etc. Take an Activa/Bullet on rent and explore the area. Try going up and down the steep hills several times, just for the sake of crazy fun! Go for water-rappelling. Even if you have done it before. Not to experience the thrill of hanging mid-air without dying

3. Walk around in the alley

One of the most magical aspects of visiting Manali is the beauty of nature. Perhaps this is the reason why this place invokes spirituality in many of its visitors. The air always smells nice because it’s pure, the water always tastes good, because in most of the places, it comes from waterfalls that emerge out of glaciers. Moreover, it’s a lot of fun to walk around to discover new viewpoints and secret trails where one can be in the lap of Mother Nature.

4. Weather
