Big Buddha temple sits majestically on a small rocky island off Koh Samui’s north-eastern corner. Chaweng Beach is the hub of Koh Samui, it is the biggest and largest town and has the busiest and possibly the most beautiful beach. This is also where the main nightlife is located with plenty of bars and restaurants to keep everyone happy. The strip in Chaweng is nearly three kilometers long and the young and young at heart make their way from one bar to another taking advantage of the cheap drinks and the loud music. The best way to truly appreciate the many souvenir shops in Bophut is to park outside the Fisherman’s Village and stroll up and down the main street that contains the shops and restaurants. Take your time – there are plenty of places to stop for a coffee or a beer break. As you head down to the pier there are several T-shirt, sandals and handcrafted souvenir shops but once on the main street, you will see fashionable boutiques such as Saona Collection.
